Sorry to ask a question without introducing myself, but we're a bit worried.

I have some fantail fish, and have recently noticed a tresspasser.

It is about 1-2cm long, multiple legs (ie 30), propellor style tail, a dark middle, looks a bit like a seed in an open pea pod and seems to be munching on my beautiful fish, oh and is a very fast swimmer.

Can anyone help identify this beast, and let me know if I should be worried by it.

Thanks in anticipation,

Ed

possibly dragon fly nymph. Do a search on google images and see if it looks the same. If it is they are carnivores and will attack fish so you should really try and catch it and get rid of it.

Get it out quick if its eating your fish,if you can't catch it get the fish out till you do,put them in a bucket if you have to with the tank water.

oh and welcome

What sized tank is it?

30 legs ?

doubt its a dragon fly nymph, but could be as the hairs down the body resemble legs

ed whats your location ,have you added anything ie plants from the wild

a picture would be more help than a description

If it's eating your fish, just get rid of it. Kill it, and take a photo.

1 of these maybe?
