Please help with feeding menu!!

Hello, sorry did not know where to post this. I have a quick question, I heard that giving my fish a variety of selections for food is healthy for them. I was wondering what are some other things I can feed my platys, and tetras. I feed them flakes and freeze dried blood worms. I heard blanched zuchinni? Also I bought a Cucumber will this work and how should I cook it or make it so they will eat or nibble on it. Just would like to keep my options open, thanks!!!

Everything you've mentioned in your post is fine for a variety of fish.

Have a look at the fish in my signature. All the fish except the puffers are in community tanks. Those tanks get fed on:

Flake
sinking catfish pellets
sinking algae wafters
sinking veggie tablets
floating micro pellets
freeze-dried tubifex cubes (stuck to the glass)
frozen bloodworm
frozen brine shrimp
live bloodworm
live brine shrimp
live daphnia
weighted blanched zuccini
weighted blanched cucumber (rarely)
cooked brussels sprouts.

Obviously, we don't feed all these things at the same time, or even on the same day, but vary the diet from day to day.

Also it's important to make sure that everyone in the tank is getting enough food, and it's not all being grabbed by the tank pigs. This can be acheived by feeding at different times of the day with different foods.

For example, we feed the plecs & dragon gobies after lights out (we have moonlight LEDS) when the others are less active.

Try some stuff out and see what they like I find my tetras don't really go for veg-based stuff but sometimes they;ll eat a bit before they realise what it is I think platies like veg though

Mosquito larva are great also and free. Just look for them in standing water. Just make sure they eat all of them or you'll have mosquitos in the house!
