please help me!

I went and got a test kit and it wasn't too bad. the nitrate was 40 (which it said it was safe), nitrite was 0, hardness was 300 (very hard), alkaline was 300 (high), and the ph was 8.4. I bought some EasyBalance that says it helps clear all of that.

did you smell anything from your tank.... if so it may be ammonia spike...
ammonia what does it smell like sorry i know stupid question but i've been trying to find out and noone seems to know.....

I had a new filter without cycling it (I had to do it ) and have 63 babies in it and they are doing great ........ I leave my babies and adult guppies tanks at 75 - 78....

I thought any nitrate in the water was bad....
Thanks
Erin

P.s theres a thing called A.C.T. (aquatic Culture Treatment..)
Filter Bacteria (name band is Mardel ) also is a water conditoner
and it made the bacteria in my baby tank grow quick without hurting the water or fish...... it can be used with fish in the tank... hope this helps
