The bottle says to put it in every day for 7 days followed by a 25% water change. Does this mean the water change is every day too? I have been doing a daily 50% water change but wasn't sure if I should change water after putting in the melafix. That doesn't make much sense. If they *do* mean put it in for 7 days, then on the 7th day do a water change, wouldn't the medication level become pretty high after a week?
btw I won't wait a week to do a water change so if I do a 50% water change do I add melafix to the new water PLUS add a new dose? This is all so confusing and I don't want to hurt my fish. I am not treating for anything, he's apparently bitten his tail and dorsal fin up and I want to prevent any finrot. He's active as usual, eating as usual (jumping out almost), flaring at everything (and nothing), etc and is in a 2 gallon filtered cycled tank with the filter intake covered with a stocking. Plus he has silk plants in his tank.
So anyway please tell me as if you're telling a 3 year old how I should do the melafix. Right now I'm going to do my nightly 50% water change and cut the carbon out of the filter.
