Has Anyone had any experience with Argulus (Fish Louse)?

My fish are EAT UP with it. I know where i got it, and prevention measurements have been made from here on out, but i am still stuck with them! i bought some "Copper-Safe" made by Mardel. My tank is a 220gal, and i bought 450ml bottle of Copper Safe. It says to use 5ml per 4 gal. I'm thinking it would be good to put the WHOLE bottle in, does this sound right?

also, YES, i DO have scaleless fish as well, and have always used half-dose when applying medicines like methyl blue, and noch-ich in the past, but my friend says when he doses, he does a "full-dose", not half, with his scaleless. anyone have a thought on that? it does NOT say to use half dose on the bottle, i am just taking procaution.

do you think this method will fix the problem? the Argulus are pretty thick! i turned up the heater a little, and did some good partials, but i am afraid they are still there! thanks guys/gals!

What kind of scaleless?

If it is loaches, Copper-based meds are a *very bad idea*.

I usually take the argulus off my goldfish myself with some medical tweezers.. It's really annyoying actually..

What kind of fish are we talikng about?

okay, for scaleless, i have a 2ft clownknife, a 2 & 1/2' Marble Pim Cat, a 1 & 1/2' Fire Eel. The Argulus are only on my 3ft Arowana (that i can see, the scaleless stay well hidden). so as you can see, these are LARGE fish, so picking argulus off is not really an option. however, i am off work all weekend, so i can do whatever is needed. i have an empty 125 gallon for a hospital tank (i know they will be pissed, but it's only temporary IF i need to take such a drastic measure).

the argulus have been in the tank long enough now to say they are "established." Please help if you can. i have had some of these fish for more than 7 years, and could not even THINK of losing even ONE of them! thanks so much!!

What's your location.

not being a wiseguy, but how is my location pertinent?

Wilder is like out local fish doctor, she knows what meds are available in amazingly diverse areas of the world. So I would guess a medicine recommendation.

no, as i said, i wasnt intending to come off as smart, just thought it was an odd question for a forum. i didnt know she meant a possible housecall, lol. i am in kentucky, usa. i still havent added anything, as i am scared to, and not sure of the correct measurements. can someone PLEASE let me know if i should dump the whole botttle? (see above).

thanks so much guys, sorry it took awhile to answer, i was having router problems until tonight. thanks again!

hi blugrassboy

im not sure if you can get it in the states but over in the uk ive used a product called PARAZIN P it comes in a tablet form and its made by a company called waterlife.

Argulus are a nightmare, just check they are not breeding in your tank becuase there is no treatment available that will kill the eggs and thats why they keep coming back.
the eggs are tiny and layed usually on a flat surface either glass or on large stones, they look like a white line of calcium deposit,if you have them destroy them by crushing them everyday, other wise they may be with you for a while

turning the temp up usually only makes them breed quicker, hope this helps lets us know how you get on
