I just noticed what seems like a 'scratch' on the inside of the aquarium glass, but when I go from side to side looking at the scratch I can see a reflection of light in it from the light in my kitchen and is looks as if it is a crack on the inside! The scratch is not a straight line scratch, it is curved.

I reached inside the tank and ran my nail across it, I can feel a groove.

I can't get a very good picture, but here's the reflection it gives off:

You can see the scratch or crack against my pleco, since he is dark, in both pictures.

Please dont tell me this really is a fracture!
I'm trying to get a new tank right now as fast as I can, I can't afford for this tank to shatter, I live in an apartment.

If you can't feel it on the outside too, it's probably just a deep scratch.

the curve of it looks like a fracture yes. Nightmare! I hope you get a new tank soon

I just can't catch a break!
:-(

I'm going to look at a 90 gallon aquarium tomorrow night (actually, tonight technically).
Hopefully it's fit for me to buy...

I just hope the fracture holds long enough for me...
Do you know how long something like this would hold?
It's about 2 inches long. and it's on the right side of the front of the tank, close to the side panel.
With it not being in the middle of the tank, and having more support where it's located,
do you think it will be okay for a short while?

And I'm pretty sure it's a fracture KittyKat, I can see what looks like an extremely small split in the glass,
like glass looks when it starts to shatter, and my it catches my nail when I run it across.

:/

May i suggest you remove as much water as you can to relieve some of the pressure.

Hope you get things sorted soon, Keith.

I just recently did two 80% water changes due to bad water parameters in the past two days, do you think this could have triggered the fracture with fluctutations in water pressure?

and Skins, the fracture is all the way at the bottom of the tank, and I have three large fish in there.
Idk how much I should even take out if I did that, and would be afraid more fluctuations in water pressure would make the crack spread more.

Gah..

Empty as much as possible, so your fish can swim....just. The more water in the tank, the more weight is pressing against your crack and the more likely its gonna go. Take out as much decor as possible too so the fish have more room in the low water level to move around.

Just removing a quarter or a third of the water will take some of the pressure off the tank glass. If there was a big difference in water temp when you performed your water change then that may have been a possible reason for the fracture.

Keith.

The water temperature was kept the same, so I don't really get why this fracture all of a sudden appeared.
The tank is also sitting on a flat level sturdy surface and hasn't moved in 3 years.

I will drain some water.

If the aquarium does give out, will it explode? or just start dripping water?

Theres no real way of knowing, it will start dripping first, but it depends how much pressure is on it as to how long it will drip for.

What is the tank capacity(ltr/gal)?

It should be fine, out of interest how long is the fracture?

Keith.
