Play sand from Argos is currently £2.99 for a 15kg bag, just got some last week.

Just give it a quick swill in a bucket to get rid of any bits, not that there was any in mine.

thats where ive got mine from 2.99 a bag cracking deal my local fish shop doesnt come close ! ive now got 45 kg to put in a 450 litre tank will post pics and give a diary ,got my 125 litre holding the fish il be putting in.

cheers

Yes it is superb value, wish I had known years ago it would of saved me a small fortune but at least I won't be caught out again this is the only substrate I will be using from now on.

ive just been given a juwel 450 bow front for free off my brother its 12mths old and did have marine fish in im already running a 125 litre fluval and thats been running for 3 years with the gravel substrate ,i had pondered over sand when i set that one up but since reading peoples views it sounds the best road and also looks better imho hopefully il get this one up and running in the next month fingers crossed and post some pics

It's good value, but a s££ to keep clean. I had silver sand in my old tank which is much the same but slightly lighter and sparkly, and it was horrendous to keep clean.

I wouldn't say it's that hard to keep clean, and at least all the dirt isn't sinking into the substrate like with gravel.

just set up my other tank and also used argos play sand baragin!

early learning center £4.00 not sure if its 10 or 15 kilos
that's where i am getting mine from or might
just get some sharp sand and give it a good wash
it looks more natural and throw a hand full of
shale on top

I recently swapped out my 240ltr from gravel to play sand from argos. Best move I made, looks amazing and is much easier to clean!

However I did find that there was alot of dust and dirt in the sand which required a hell of alot of cleaning! Per bucket (standard washing up bowl) I had to fill up, mix up and empty it four times each! Dont rush it, get it clean and you wont regret it!

ive got plenty of time as im still running my other tank with the fish il be adding so ive got a good 4 weeks or so to get it just right ! if its not ready the fish wont be going in .I just thought that sand looks better than gravel and decided to try it and at the price argos are throwing it out its hard to beat lol .il know more when i start filling and its settled wether its to my taste or not.
