Platys Changing Sex?

It is possible for some fish to change sex if there is no opposite sex, it happens in frogs and dolphins too. its a rare gene not remotely found in fish but since platys were crossed with swordtails to create colour some mutant genes may have developed. my mollys change sex from time to time but oncer thay change they will not go back to their original sex as they can only change once. Hermaphrodicey does not occur in fish but it occurs in snails and sluggs and some insects, but not fish. i am convinced your male has turned female, his anal fin may not change though so good look with him/her xD

no didnt happen your thinking of a young fish that has "turned" male but just developed and was male all along

Sub dominant, or late developing, males can easily reach adult size before they show male characteristics.

Just wanted to let you all know my fat male was just over-feeding, I fasted them yesterday, and he's normal sized today. I guess feeding once a day is plenty

Yeah, I was afraid to fast them because I have more fish then I've ever had before in that tank, and I was afraid that the littlest one hasn't been getting enough. Then they at my Pleco's food (until he scares them off), and they've been nibbling the new Java fern.
