Could i put my pregnant platy in a 4 gallon tank until she gives birth and then put her back in my community tank because i dont want the fry to get eaten by all of my other fish.

Yes. Make sure water quality matches the other tank and temperature also, this would be better for her than a breeder box as it would not stress her as much.
