i've got a platy that looks pretty darn big and i think looks kind of square (one of the signs right) but she isn't pushing out any babies. she's looked like this for about a week now. this is my first experience with livebearers so i don't know too much on telling how close to giving birth they are. i was wondering if someone could give me some more advice or signs to look for and maybe a picture of a platy that is about ready to give birth, so i can compare.
thanks all. :D

she sounds about ready. whats her general behavior? i noticed my mollies and platys (when i had them...) tended to look squarish for about a week, getting progressively fatter and squarer til they literally looked like they were going to burst. then they would spend a lot of time chasing off other fish taht came near them, trying to hide in corners and behind plants and in caves, and sitting on the gravel (like they were tired or something). they became VERY moody the last three or so days before they gave birth. they tended to go behind the cave to give birht, would come out and swim around a bit and i'd see babies come up out from behind the cave. so watch her behavior and her belly, she will literally look like she's about to pop like a balloon that been overfilled............... :)

thanks a lot MANY_A_MOLLY. she does seem to be fairly moody lately, chasing everyone away and such, but doesn't seem to be hiding too much. i'll just keep an eye on her and see. thanks again for the extra signs to look for.
