These 3 types of fish a good mix? I've read abit about them.

Do they need to be kept in groups and if so how many fish in their groups?

Whats an exciting/entertaining fish but small i havent named i could get please? Something fast would be good. I like speed ;)

Going to the pet store in 7 hrs so i need answers/reserch pretty quickly :)

Platies and guppies will live together great. I have not tried to keep danios with them myself, so you'll have to get someone elses opinion on that one. As for fast fish, I have some tiger barbs that like to race around my tanks, although they are NOT good company for your guppies/platties.

They will all get along fine.

As for the Tiger Barbs, they are a great fish and can get along with other fish if kept in schools. This means that you need to keep them in groups of at least six, and preferably more. There are four tiger bard varieties; the regular tiger bard, the green striped tiger barb, the green tiger bard or mossy bard and the albino tiger barb. The green striped tiger barb the mossy barb are separate varieties, though you will see them listed as the same thing on many sites.

Cherry barbs will also swim in a school with tiger barbs and give some more color. When you have all five varsities swimming together, it is awesome.

You do need to have a decent size tank to have an acceptable amount of tiger barbs, they are avid swimmers and need space horizontally to swim. 29 gallon would be the smallest I would go.

I think platties and guppies like to be grouped together, maybe about 5 in a group?
Platties and guppies though I think if you get a mix of male/female youre supposed to keep 2 females to each male so theyre not harassed all the time. I don't know 'bout danios, tho. Perhaps neons would be a good fish....but Im not really sure theyre fast...good luck :D

Are you thinking of Zebra/Leopard danios?
if so not a good idea with guppies.
pearls will be ok as will glowlight danios, do remember that danios will need a lot of open space for swimming and pearls can reach 8cm.
all danios need to be in groups of at least 5, so this needs to be taken into account when stocking a tank.

on a side note y2j
have you been to heaver tropicals in Ash, near brans hatch?
a very good shop that is not too far from you.

I keep some Zebra Danios in with some common feeder Guppies and some Dwarf Platies. Everyone gets along fine. But I would recommend having at least 6 Zebra Danios so that they have enough of their own kind to play with, otherwise they may harrass other species.

With guppys and platys you will either need 1male per 2females minimum or have a one gender group.
Guppys are known to breed very quickly(produce fry within a month) and produce large amounts of fry(as are platys but not so much) so if you will probably have to consider such posibilitys like baby fish/fry in the future; even if you get an all female group they can store sperm in them and so can get pregnant without a male in the tank.

I've only ever had pearly danios but are quite similar to other types of danio; i used to have some in my guppy tank and they did harrass the guppys quite alot but this realy depends on the individual fish it appears as some people keep danios and guppys no problem while others have issues with them.
I have heard danios do best in groups of 5/6.

No i havent been there. I ve been brans hatch ;) i ll try and find out where this place is located :)

About 5 in every group then. Make it a solid 15 fish ;) Try to get 2 males to every 3 females.

Birchwood Aquatic Centre in Swanley (near to Ruxley Manor Garden Centre) has great tropical and marine fish and is well worth a visit

I believe that I was wrong about the cherry barbs and the tiger barbs schooling together. I know that one of the other barbs will school with tigers, can anyone help me out here and tell me which one it is? I can't find the page where I had read this at the moment.

Hey thanks, I did not know about that one. I found on another site that rosy barbs and golden barbs are also suppose to school with tiger barbs. I am interested in trying this out in my 120 gallon tank.

ive got 3 zebera danios and 4 platies and they get along fine unless u only have 1 danio then they will harass other fish as i found out.
