Can anyone help please ... last week I emptied my hospital tank and put my existing fish back into their newly cycled main tank. I kept my hospital tank running for when I buy some replacement fish to quarantine them in.
Today, I did a small water change and noticed a platy fry merrily swimming around - it hasn't been fed all week as I didn't know he was there!
My question is - I've been adding a product called Biomature 1 x weekly to keep feeding my hospital tank filter, but it states not to put in a tank where there are fish - but 1 platry fry isn't going to produce enough waste to keep my filter going - so what do I do??? Can anyone advise me please?
Thanks in advance -_-

Let him take his chances in the main tank, if you have plenty of hiding spaces and plants he might make it, good luck.

thanks Wilder, I don't think I expalined myself too well, he's in the hosp tank already all by himself!

hi,
why dont you hang a breeder net on the back of your main tank and pop it in there for a while then put in in the main tank, or like wilder said, let it take a chance by putting it in the main tank, all the best donna :)

I agree forget about them breeder boxes i had one he will be fine in the main tank in there on his own while he gets abit bigger, just put a plant in there for him as well.
Make sure it has a lid mine did as fish can jump in them and eat the fry.

Had the first one it was good just added an air pump to it so it filtered the little box.

Thanks both, I've ordered one of those breeder nets to put him in, just got to catch him now - any tips? :good:

hi,
lower the water level take out all plants rocks ect, and have a spare hour lol, if poss its best to cup it out with a small plastic jug/cup so he stays in water, that way he can be slowly tiped in to the net in the main tank.
good luck with it donna :)

hi there i have just found a platty in my main tank to hope everything goes well!

Don't forget to match ph and temp, good luck.

We had a similar situation- brought a few loaches home and had a guppy fry hitchhiker. The breeder net in your main tank will be great for him- we added some java moss into the net as well. Crush up your flake food very fine for him- good luck!

Thanks everyone, my breeder net arrived today, so just got to find some time to catch the little fellow!

Ok good luck, if its a net i would be careful that the fish don't jump in the net to eat him.
