Hi everyone!
As some of you may already know, My platy unexpectedly had fry 2 days after I got her. Sadly, I was only able to save one fry. (I spotted 2 in the tank)
My question is, the fry will be 2 weeks old on September 2nd. How long will it be before I can put it in the main tank ?(10 gallon with 2 other platys)
I will be away the 3rd week of October and I am hoping that the fry will be ready by then to be put into the tank. I have no one locally to take care of the fry when I go away. Do you think the fry has enough time to grow enough by then?
So far, the fry looks like the same size as when it was born. If he/she grew any, it was not much.

Thanks in advance !!

:)

when he's 2 big to fit in their mouths! i had a baby platy that was 2 maybe 3 weeks old and even tho i'm sure the others could have eaten him he was 2 quick! i can't tell u how long because growth depends on water conditions, heat, food etc. good luck! :D

Hi! I have 27 swordtail frys born 3 weeks ago n rite now they r only still 1-1.5cm long. So with such a growth rate, I guess u'll hav to leave for another 2 months before putting them in the 10 gallon!

I had platy fry 6/7 weeks ago, they are about an inch so I have put them in the main tank and they are doing fine.

Thank you for your help everyone!

Sye, 6 to 7 weeks it took? I hope that is the case with me. That would be perfect. 7 weeks would be Oct. 7th.

How did you take care of the fry before you put them in the main tank? Right now I have the one fry in an open container. I do daily water changes for the fry. How many times a day did you feed the fry? Because I work all day, I am only able to feed the fry 2 times a day.

Thanks again!
