Hi y'all...this is my first post!! Yeah i just got a Micky mouse, a blue moon and some other kind (it was in a tank labeled "assotted" ) and i was wondering if any one else had platies or tips LOL

Hi and welcome,

I have 4 red wagtail platies. I have cycled my tank with them and think they are great. I have 2 males and 2 females who all seem to have big appetites and enjoy swimming at all levels of the tank.

I'm just waiting for babies to arrive as I'm told they breed very easily?

Kool, lol...i noticed after i bought them and after noticed i have 2 males and 1 female!

Is that ok?

I would have thought that would be okay. In such a small group the lone female shouldn't be bothered too much by the other 2 male fish.

I read somewhere that if a female is heavily outnumbered by males she might be stressed out by the frisky males bothering her all the time, and it best to have more than 1 for them to turn their affections to!

Yeah, the recomended amount is 1 male per 3 females t spread aggression
