Hi,

So looking at first fish into a new tank, hopefully fishless cycled correctly first. But would still like to start with a few varieties of hardy fish first.

Looking through books and websites, this is what I would have on this list.

Top of the list: I would guess are platies. Followed by any of these:

Danios: leopard, pearl and zebra
Barbs: golden, chequer, ruby
Tetras: black neon, buenos aires, black phantom, glow light
Gourami: pearl, blue three spot
Charachins: marbled hatchets

I would like some cardinals or neons, or harlequin rasboras, but along with mollies, I understand these should only be put into mature tanks.

Would you agree with this listing, or do you have other opinions or suggestions

Thanks

In my experience i have found Harlequins to be quite hardy. However i have found Cardinals and Neons to be a lot less hardy.

I've found that angle fish are quite hardy given the correct care I've kept a school of 4 of them now and they're in perfect health. be careful with water changes are they are sensitive to temperature drops and may die :( good luck
