Just sharing two tank designs from work (P@H shh).
Obviously budget wasn't a problem thankfully - Could use anything I wanted.

This one was to show that plastic plants can be really effective! The rock was there just weighing down the vine and has now been removed!

And this one was all natural.
The vinewood is cable tied onto the fixtures out of the water. The fish love hiding beneath it!

What do you think? Not easy when they are quite slim tanks! (Will know if you've seen any of the P@H set ups).

I think the plastic one looks too fake with all the colours! I know you can get plants that colour but I always prefer real to fake!

the plastic one does look awesome but i think because of the colors it takes the lime light away from the fish.
id generally go for real just because it benefits the tank immensely even if i do have to pick up the peaces after my fish have munched them lol

Yeh I love real also but as it's the coldwater section it has to be plastic!

I really wanted to 'write off' this many...

love this tank. Think I would've driven my manager into retirement using that much of the stores funds though! It was my inspiration although we didn't have as many plants available in the Sydeco range as the picture displays. I tried!

i think the plastic one looks good for what it is, but real plants win IMO all the way. as for cold water, you can easily plant them up as well, if you choose the right plants

lol that would cost an arm and a leg for that many...probably more than the tank itself

I really dislike plastic plants. Even for all the PITA that real plants give me, I still prefer them. I like to admire the fish, not the plastic.

I could never, ever for the life of me make plastic plants look that beautiful.  Great job!

The tanks could have their own set of admires.  For instance, the plastic planted tank is a eyecatcher, and general observers will appreciate the vibrancy.  The natural tank will get admiration from those who have experience with aquariums, such as us on TFF.  Well done on both, for sure!

I like real more. The plastic is indeed nice but the real are all round better.

Yeah ideally there's only plastic in our coldwater section as the goldfish eat it and make a mess. Less work for us!
In a way it's our display tank and we're trying to sell the decor rather than the large fancies in there. Judging by the response it's done the trick :p

You did a fantastic job with the plastic plants, of course they are selling! :)

Selling the concept of plastic plants that is :p You all said it drew away the attention from the fish so it hit the selling point spot on tehe! :)

From what I used I wrote off almost £150 worth of plants, not to mention the air pump and other bits of decor so yeah.. Triple/Quadruple that and voila that would be that tank :p
