I'm sure fish prefer live plants, but does it matter? My angel got caught in the plastic ones once.

I would love to add live plants, but am I inviting more work and trouble to my life??

Live plants will always help keep the water in good shape, but they can also carry parasites and snail eggs or babies. Some fish will also eat plants if you don't give them vegetation from another source. Look into what fish you have to see if they're plant nippers, then decide.

I don't have any plastic plants in my tank and always have lots of live plants.

Some of the plants get eaten and some die, but they are relatively inexpensive and a new plant can add a different look to your aquarium if you get a bit bored with it.

The only probs i have is pruning them as some plants get too tall, replacing the eaten ones and replanting any that have come up from the gravel.

It is a little bit of extra work, but some of my fish like the gouramis really like to eat the fine leaved plants and it gives the more timid fish places to hide.

Any in particular that someone with a black thumb can raise? And that mollies and angels would like?
