do i need to feed my plants? there just been put in a new tank so no fish, will they require any type of feeding and do they require the light left on?

What size of tank do you have? Also have you decided which kind of fish you are going to keep, as this can affect your plants. With planted tanks, many plants will get enough nutrients from the waste that builds up from your fish; some can feed through their leaves, but those with extensive root systems will require some kind of substrate fertiliser. If you have no fish in your tank at the moment, you will need to add some sort of fertiliser, either liquid or in tablet form. And the plants will need light as well; your lights total wattage will affect the types of plants you will be able to sucessfully grow.
