Plants Off Ebay..

FYI it is a marsh plant. This means it is used to having its roots in moist conditions Whilst the plant grows above the water level. It will survive floods and submergance but not forever.

However as you are already an expert on plants (yet buying cheap packs off ebay) I shall not advise you as you will need no assistance from me nor anyone else. I look forward to seeing your advice to others on which plants to put in their aquariums.

Maybe some lupins as the background with marigolds at the front. Would look nice.

The following site maybe interested in your services too.

good point..lol
it may not be an aquatic plant but..it has thrived in my other tank for a long time and showed no such rotting when other plants have..
and in fact you should not say anything about cheap ebay plants since they are good value for money and good quality and even the expensive plants out of aquatics shops are not good quality..

When I first started I bought a large pack of 100 plants from an ebay seller. Although there were no Dracena or other noticeably non aquatic plants there was some aqua fern which is (strangely as the name is aqua) non aquatic.

I had most of these plants for a long time and only got rid of them when I decided to change scape. They are good value for money and ideal for beginners but where an LFS will sell Dracena, they don't know about plants and are usually more than happy to admit this. The sellers on ebay will refuse to admit it and spout off about their experience until planted forums sick of their 'knowledge' on the subject bombard them with the facts in an attempt not to stop them selling their plants as aquatic but to try and stop them telling 'newbies' that they are the experts and the 'newbie' is wrong. The point of the argument with them is sell a donkey if you want, but don't try and tell people it is a thoroughbred stallion related to Red Rum.

If you go to 'proper' aquatic shops the plants are very good quality. If you go to LFS that sell a few plants then you can tell if they know about plants by the quality. Take a look at this Aquatic plant shop in Wrexham:

I personally buy my plants from all sorts of sources but tend to veer towards the cheapest. Not bothered about the quality when I get it. The end result is what I want so if I save some cash and wait a month longer for the desired end result then that is fine for me.

thanks for the good explanation ..
its quite strange how i go to the best Fish Shop in The Uk and they don't have a good plant selection..
they have good fish though:)..
which i think is the most important thing..

The Uk is well behind the rest of the world on the planted scene. Before I started my vision of tropical fish was the dull boring tank with poor lighting and crap printed background. I wa neverinterested in ever keeping fish.

Then I saw some spectacular planted tanks and thought. I like them I'm going to have one of them in my house.

As per most things in the UK we are so far behind and very oldy worldy.
