I'm emptying my 72 gallon 48x18x20 tank and plan on stocking it with my favorite fish, and one of my favorites.

Fish:
P.Senegalus
P. delhezi
P. ornatipinnis
BGK
Raphael cat or Leopard Ctenopoma
Maybe a ABF

I'm planning on making it look good as I can. The decor I'm planning is a pre-made DIY rock background, a large natural looking ceramic cave for the BGK, and wood with anubias attached to it.

But I think some other plants can make it look better. I thought about vallis, but I don't think these fish would like bright light.

So, I was wondering, what kind of tall plants would do well with pollies and BGK? And how many watts per gallon should I provide for the plants??

You know that tank wont last them their entire life and you will need a larger one at some point.

The Black Ghost Knife imo would get too large to permenantly keep in that tank. Ive seen more than one BGK hitting 16-20 inches which doesnt leeave much if any turning room for it

Sorry, but could you first give me the ideas please? I haven't done it yet, just setting up.

Errrrrrrrrrr..............Are you determined not to help me in any way because the tank is seemingly too small?

they are just trying to make a point that you would have to remove the oranate and bgk at some point in time.

i like cave and wood. would your substrate be sand? it would look great if it was. trying getting tall background plants. your lfs should make you spoilt for choice. the polyp however may push plants around. uprooting them once in a while. in the case of light, hopefully someone more versed in aquatic plants would come by and asnwer your question

Erm...Please stop being so ignorant. Did you think to look at the times you posted, it was 1.30 and 5.30am (or there abouts) Some of us work for a living and thus are up for work at 6am and cant be online till that time in the morning.

If you want the tank to last the fish's life then look at Senegals and Palmas as they are the smaller Bichirs. As for Knife fish then look at the Browns or Blacks as again they are far smaller than the Ghosts. Completely ignore the Royals and Clown Knifes.

Plants anything robust, Ferns, Anubias etc

Okay, sorry, but thanks! Acually as my favorite fish species, a tank dedicated to senegals only isn't that bad!!

And no offence to the clown/royal knifes....But I don't like them, never even considered keeping them. Picky eaters, huge size, silent assasination of annoying tankmates at night...Although I like the black ghosts, if they aren't happy there isn't any point in keeping one!
