Barry has popped in for his annual visit :)
Long time no see, how are you, doing well I hope?

Your pictures are still good.

How is your study going, any Fs yet? :)

How is the plant business?

Have you still got ducks or did the dogs finish them all off?

How is your family, doing well I hope. :)

Hi, thanks for asking.

Not really well…My OCD returned after a year or two of it being gone :(
The plant business doesn’t go well also. Other than that I’ve also been studying and practising piano lately as I want to play one of the most beautiful piano piece, Chopin’s Ballade No. 1, Op. 23 in G minor
How about you?

Not yet but a C on Statistics. I'm actually thinking of going to study in another country once I finish my bachelor, maybe somewhere in Queensland.

Thanks!

Only one left apparently.
How is your family, doing well I hope. :)
They’ve been doing okay.

Sorry to hear about the ducks :(

I could never work the piano. I can play the white keys but using the black keys and pedals at the same time was too hard.

Queensland is expensive to live and currently has a housing shortage. The entire country has a housing shortage currently and Queensland is pretty bad with lots of people living on the streets. :( If you do come to Australia, wait a few years until the housing crisis isn't as bad.

What's wrong at the plant farm?

What sort of OCD do you have?
I have to wash my hands 3 times and can't go near asbestos fences or anywhere they spray chemicals. It gets really annoying at times and drives me nuts.

What about other states or territories?

Plants grow very slowly.

Same.

The entire country has a housing crisis due to covid causing everyone to come back here to live, and the stupid federal government bringing in over 1 million immigrants last year, and the state governments refusing to build public housing for the last 20 years. Right now there are over 1 million homeless people in the country and we only have 24 million people living here. The governments are running around trying to fix this issue but we don't have the builders to build anything and the government's attempts are half hearted because they have their own homes and aren't going to become homeless, so they really don't care.

There are also major issues with the cost of power and gas in the eastern half of the country due to governments allowing private companies to sell all our oil, coal and gas overseas and not keep any in reserve for the people here. This has caused the gas and power companies to have to buy oil, coal and gas off the overseas market just to supply the local customers. This is completely outrageous and has caused power and gas bills to go up a lot (over 400% during the last 2 years in many cases).

In Western Australia where I am the state government controls the gas and power company and keeps a certain amount of gas, coal and oil for local consumption and sells the rest onto the overseas market. So my gas and power bills haven't gone up anywhere near as much as the eastern states have but it's still gone up a bit :(

I live in a pretty slummy area with a high crime rate (people steal your mail and garden plants). I am under 2 flight paths and have to deal with aircraft flying over every 5-10 minutes all day and night every day. I hear emergency service vehicles all the time because there is a police station, fire department and ambulance depo 500 meters up the road. And there's a train line by them and there are trains going past every 5-10 minutes from 5am to 3am every day.

I pay $330.00 a week for a 1 bedroom unit that is infested with rats and insects and the owners don't do work orders. The property is rented at a lower rate due to being subsidised by the federal government and other one bedroom properties here that aren't subsidised go for $400.00 a week. I get $600 a week on the pension and by law you aren't meant to rent a property to someone if the rent is more than 40% of their income but owners are greedy and just jack the rent up because there are no laws saying they can't.

There is dust blowing around here all the time and I have to wipe the car's windows and doors down before I go out in it. And I am lucky to have this place even though I can't stand it due to being poisoned by the idiot owners who had the units sprayed for ants in January 2023 but didn't tell anyone they were going to spray.

A lot of people pay between $500 and $1000 a week for a 2 or 3 bedroom rental property in this country. Before covid they were paying around $250-$300 a week. Most people who own their home and are paying off a mortgage are paying around $400-700 a week for their mortgage repayments. It's cheaper to pay off a mortgage than to rent in a lot of cases but you can't buy a home because there's none for sale. When the rent gets too high people end up on the street. There are tent cities popping up all over the country where people of all ages and sexes are living in tents on parks because they have nowhere to go. Women with children are living in tents on parks or in their cars. It's absolutely appalling.

The government says the housing crisis should be fixed in the next couple of years but most people in the know says it's going to be at least 10 years and that's if the government builds housing for the poor. If they don't it's going to take a lot longer and if the government decides to bring in more immigrants, it will just make the problem worse. :(

For anyone wanting to come to Australia, it's bring your own accommodation.
