Hi there guys , im a first time planter and just having a few problems .

I got 10 vallisneria and 5 wisteria , now the problem im having is the vallisneria keeps floating away . I only recieved them yesterday , i cleaned them up and trimmed the roots as guided.

Has anyone got any tips how to keep them planted till the roots setlle in?

put the plants in the gravel/sand whatever you are using deeper.. :)

Is your substrate just sand? could dig some holes, put some gravel in and cover with sand and plant, also how deep is it cos sand needs to be a good few inches deep?

Vallisneria does not like having sand among the leafs, so it's very important to keep only the crown buried. I have experienced the same problem, and solved using temporarily the lead weights and sponge the plants came with: after unpacking and getting the plants ready, I delicately surrounded each with a small portion of the sponge and half the original weight (lead is very soft, so no prob in cutting it), and planted them, being careful to avoid sand entering among the leafs. After less than 2 weeks the roots had taken grip, so I carefully removed the things. In ONE case, the plant got its root through the sponge, so I couldn't removed it anymore! No big deal.

Cheers!
