Plants/fish - fish/plants

sorry m8 it was the BT box outside the flats that was vandelised. they no better than to try my place round here for some strange reason. took they guys a week to fix it. all the wires got ripped out and the thing set alight. I suppose thats what the get for having a box in the street rather that underground in our area, even the police have stopped coming round unless its so early all the youngsters are still in bed or just going. lol

drat. sounds a bit like my hood near chicago. sorry to hear.

on the pebble issue ... were I to tie to a shell instead, would i need to boil very old souvenier sea shell???

NO shells. These will cause more problems than they will cure. Your Pleco is causeing the damage to the plants. easiest way to root your plants is to put extra gravel around the bottom of the plant. It'll look like a mound. As the plants get established they will be fine and you can smothe the mound if you wish. Rose

If a pleco is messing me up we got other problems, cuz I have no idea how it got in there :=)

I piggybacked on this thread! :p

Why no shells? Already one purty one in there, they like to hide under it (it rests against the side o'the tank).

:but: could the shell have caused those health problems before?!?!?!?

Who knew? So does that mean that rivers, ponds, the oceans, are softer water and that's why it is ok out there???

I suspect its more to do with there being a much lower density of shells to water than it would be possible to get in an aquarium.

But then if we wanted to put the same density of fish to water as in the big outside none of us would be allowed any fish. :D

If I remember correctly it's the disolving calcium from the shells that hardens the water, but it's been a while since i looked at this, my brain being old doesn't work the same way.lol

Of course, there are different kinds of shells, no?

Same are harder than others and would dissovle at a different rate.

Maybe someone in here has had luck with some sort of non toxic clear sealer?
