Ok i am kind of stuck i have bought a 6 x 2 x2 tank with it and i don;t know if to make it into a planted tank so filled has much has i can with plants or if to just have a few plants and go down the bog wood route.
At the moment i have 3 albino pleco and 3 silver sharks and a few fighting fish and a few corydoras.. I just wanted to try and get some idea's on what the fish would like best. I think with the planted tank there wouldn't be many hiding places for the plecs but with the bogwood there would...

Here is a few examples

Has you can see with a mass planted tank there is no ground space.....

What do you think i should do ???

i have just converted my tank from a fairly heavily planted tank to a "bogwood tank" with mopani and various other wood pieces. i love it, i love the dark water the tannins look great, really moody. i have a big clump of vallis in the centre surrounded by wood looking like tree stumps, indian almond leaves on top of sand and i have just added some amazon frogbit to create even more shadowy areas. its not quite finished but its a nce change from a bright green tank. looks very natural.

I think it's the other way round - plants would provide many more hiding places than wood!

These ideas don't have to be mutually exclusive, just a thought.
I agree, use the plants to compliment the wood, and the wood to compliment the plants.

Actually, I have bogwood and plants!  Works well :)

do both, i did and lots of people do.   Just bogwood would look empty IMO

I agree, both wood and plants will be just fine.

I do also agree that a bare wood tank has its raison d'être.

The tank is big enough to have a jungle on one side and bare wood and rocks on the other, just a thought...
