Well I am happy to report my first try at plants is going ok. They have not died on my yet. Not sure if they are really growing very fast bu my main goal was to keep them alive. I added a few more this weekend. In one picture the new ones are the Anubis I attached to the drift wood and the three plants behind them I forgot the name.It was one big one so i split them up a bit to put some coverage in the back of tank. moved my air stone to come out from middle of my pots kinda like that. I will be removing the cave thing and replace with some nature slate to make places to hid a bit.  Oh yes I also invested in a quit fluval canister filter :).  fighting just a bit of brown alge

I then got the bug to set up my little five gallon upstairs so I can enjoy a few fish. My other big one is in the second floor. So I put just a Anubis in this little one hoping It will get enough light. Do you think I need to add any thing to that little tank for that plant at all to help it stay healthy? Not sure what kind of bulb to get for a 5 gallon. I added my male guppy he has my three females ready to pop not sure yet how to keep that population down. I know my angel will help with this first batch..Feeling a bit guilty about it but maybe some will make it.  Do you know what I can add with a male guppy in that little tank or will he big it to death?  Thanks for dropping in.

Both very cute tanks. Especially love the bubbler in between the pots.

Are you going to put a background on the 5g? I can't think of anything to add with your male guppy, sorry.

The stems in the back look like Moneywort.
Good luck with the plants.
The little five looks nice, but with such a small tank stocking is very limited.

yes I know I was not planning on stocking it with much more for looks and having I hope a nice green plant in it. I am a child care provider and the kids LOVE watching my big apple snail in other tank so I put a little one in 5 gallon so they can watch when up or down stairs. I saw these zebra like snails and would love to get one of those. But not in this small town.

yes I am sure I will it was just a quick last minute set up. Always had all the stuff around so thought I would try it upstairs. the daycare kids love watching apple snail in my big one so I thought I would have one up stairs for them to watch

You could keep a betta in that 5g but not with the guppy, I imagine they would nip each other.

yes I thought about a nice bata at one point. Just not sure how to control the guppy population if  I put male back in tank with the girls. The fry can make good fry food for angel fish . But not sure how I feel about that.

Ah well it's commonly done but I don't know if that makes you feel any better lol.If you don't want babies I suppose you could see if your LFS would take him back?
