thought i'd take some more pics for you lot as I'm trying out my camera phone, it's definately better than my old digi cam.... think maybe it's time to upgrade it!

anyway we need to upgrade the lighting as some of the plants are suffering a bit.... but after several months in there oscar is showing no inclination to eat or dig up any of them, amazon swords get nice big roots on them too so they're not easy to just knock out by accident. even spot and al (syno and plec) marauding isn't disturbing them!

adn this last pic came out funny so i thought i'd post it, as you can see from the pics about polly is quite clearly orange.... dunno what happened to the lighting in this pic, but no she's definately not dyed or anything.

Upgrade the lighting to security lights :hey: . Nice oscar does it bite you when you put your hand in the tank? A lot of people say you can pet them  .

ha ha nah that'd be too strong for the amazon sword it does best with relativley low light... ours is just a little too low!

umm he'd probably try and eat you, he tends to try and eat anything you put in the tank

i like this tank a lot,i dont usually like oscars much but hes lovely
is it a jewel tank?

thanks cane, yeah it's the trigon 350, it's just under 80g.... and don't worry, it's not still the juwel filtration on it!

The oscar looks gorgeous, and yes, the tank looks a bit dim. :)

thanks

yeah it's just the juwel standard lighting, also the bulbs are a bit old and need replacing, thinking about switching them for t6 tubes and sticking some reflectors on, should hopefully cover the needs of amazon swords!

beautiful tank & fish , i like the lighting but we've found too that so many of our plants need much more light.

i've found him to be the most resiliant fish ever, so long as they have plenty of room and suitable tankmates oscars should be pretty much indestructiable!

he gets himself in scrapes sometimes when he's been fighting with wood and stuff like that, but even really nasty wounds soon clear up and heal, he even jumped out of the tank, landed on the condensation tray in his old tank and was there most of the day his weight pulled the tray so it was 1-2 mm under the water but he was mostly out of it. he was shocked but soon recovered.

don't think i could kill him if i tried!

oscars a beautiful fish, such nice colouring he has.i love your tank as well hes a lucky fish
