Not sure on how this type of post goes with the rules. However, I'm busy creating a website for the planted people and the newbies who want to become plant people. The website will give info on all the plants you can think of(hopefully ) and I was wondering if anyone with a good knowledge of plants would like to provide pictures and info for the website. Also someone who could come up with a decent name for the website I will love you forever :p

Lets hear what you think and if anyone would like to help out. It could be fun ;)

I had an idea of Linnaeus for the name of the website. He was the guy who developed a system for giving living things their scientific name. :S Just an idea :D

Tropical Plant forums instead of tropical fish forums :D

http://jpeterson94.com There is the design, hows it look?

Hi,

So far I think the design looks fab and very clean, and even though i'm not posting to give any opinions on the technical side I just thought i'd say that the website you are creating would come in really handy!

I am going to be setting up a planted aquarium in the near future and even though this forum its great for getting your questions answered, its just a bother to trawl through the posts that apply to your own specific topic and to sometimes wait for an answer.

I was looking for aquascaping advice and overall layout tips, things to avoid, plants used and their requirements etc. I know you can find this info on the world wide web, but it'd be nice to have all this useful info in one place in a user friendly format, instead of browing through numerous sites to get what you're looking for.

Thumbs up.

Wow! Great, thanks for the positive advice. If you want to have another look at the new pages I have done go back to the homepage and the "Plant" and "Layout" pages are done. Just to let me know if they layout works for them type of pages.

Just found this thread again and going to take a look.

I think its great you are dedicating your time to creating this. I'll follow the progress closely.

Lolly.

well jamie, recently Ive been trying to do the same thing, a website, but not for fishes.
I find it has become very dificult. the only way to get an eternality existing free website
is via a post web server, meaning a bigger website holding yours as a subpage.
for example, www.plantfish.webs.com or www.plantfish.yolasite.com
or more complicated ones such as www.sites.google/gmail/plantfish.com
i have found a similar one that works free for 1 year, it works in the same subdomain way, just less noticed
it is called co.cc and you can literally just type in co.cc into your browser. your website from this server could be
www.plantfish.co.cc
or else average web hosting costs 20 dollars a year. you could maybe put ads on the website to
pay for the website hosting, but first you would need a starting fund of 20 dollars,
a paypal account and a web host that offers google adsense or admob ads to pay you via the paypal account.

If youve figured all this out already, great.
If not, its quite complicated and frustrating but after a while youl be repayed for the website.
:good: good luck! :good:
