Something to bare in mind with that Crypt is it can get to 3ft in height tho, beautiful plant tho, I have some in my scape and its so slow growing its still nice and short.

Wow, didn't realise it got quite that tall. The tank's only about 1ft in height, so I think that might be still too tall even with slow growth. Vallis-wise, I was thinking of v. Americana as I wanted it to trail along the surface a little - I've read mixed info about its height though. Thanks for the help, it's greatly appriciated.

Yes mate just increase the substrate depth, an easier way to do it and a way in which it wont flatten so easy is to add some rock at the back, this will make it much easier to add depth and stop the sand from flattening! as I said it looks really great as it is, and crypts are great in a lower tech tank, they look great and are very resilient!!

Thanks again for the tips :)

Well, I had a little play around after a w/c earlier, didn't go as planned though. I tried to swap around the c.wendtii so that the taller was at the back, but I couldn't get it right, so they were put back but now have been rotated/fiddled with

One question, anyone know how crypts propagate? I had a few leaves fall off the crypts earlier, some of which seemed to have parts of the rhizome on the bottom. I replanted them in the sand hoping they'll eventually grow, but are they likely to grow or just die?

They usually propagate with runners so probably not.
