I would agree with @Byron on the floating plants. I recently added frog bit to my betta tanks and they love it!! When the roots get longer it looks really pretty too. My betta is always investigating what's going on up there so I think it is also very enriching for them also!

I have both frogbit and Salvinia in my betta tank, it’s great for him.
