When I was curring my rocks, I got them out of the tank after a week and rinse them under the tap water,
the ammonia, droped right after that and never came up again.
They were pretty dirty and I was unable to clean them properly while they were dry. This is not an advice - just
something I did and rocks look better them ever now :)

Add some clean up crew before u add any fish. I have 28gal, 4 turbo snails, 4 hermits, 10 nasarius and one fire shrimp really do the
job. U dont have lots of rock so u might not need lots of them add just a couple for now.

yeah that rock looks pretty alive, dont worry about it.

Correct, salt cannot evaporate ;). Thus evaporated water must be replaced with freshwater

okay cheers :drinks:

as i am getting a pair of clown fish to breed in my tank, is it still possible to have a clean up crew? or will they eat the eggs/fry?

Well, you can't raise fry in a display tank. Filters will kill fry, forget about cleanup crew ;). Fry need to be raised in a seperate tank, but that's a whole ways down the road. First you have to get an older mature pair of clownfish. Remember, these things live for decades and don't start breeding like bunnies right away.

yeah i know i have to raise the fry in a seperate tank, My friend has a pair i can get of him if i need too :good:

how long do clown fish live for? and how do you get a pair to start to breed?

You will have to remove the eggs to a seperate tank anyways, but hermits are still not recommended unless you find the eggs before they do.

Oops, I was way behind on my post :p

I'm not sure how long they can live maximally but the owner of my LFS has a 15 year old pair... He said they started to breed after they were about 6 or 7. If you're serious about breeding clownfish, try a book, "Clownfishes" by Joyce Wilkerson. It's pretty much the bible on the subject.

id like to know exacly when they start to breed? &

do the parents look after the fry?

The parents do not look after fry, this much I know. Another reason they need to be moved from the display tank ;)
