I have some beautiful rocks I collected from the beach near by. I was wondering, after proper cleaning and scrubbing, may I place them in my established community tank? Or, if there is anything special I should do? Thank you, Ben

I dont know alot about this kinda thing but i would recommend boiling the rocks to get all the crap off of it.

Heya Ben :hi:

The first thing I'd do with the rocks you've collected is pour a little white vinegar on them. If they fizz or bubble, they're soluble/calciferous and are not safe to put into your tank, as they'll leach minerals into your water. If there's no fizzing, I'd recommend boiling them before you put them in, just to make sure there are no living organisms on them. I collect rocks from the beach all the time for my tanks and have never had a problem.

Yes do excatley what Aquanut said  and they should be fine  8)

I really do appreciate all the help, very helpful. Ben

Yes the vinegar test is extremely important...I also collect rocks :D
