Koraal
New Member
It's been a while since my last question since everything seems to go pretty well. I started my tank in July last year. I've been taking it slowly and am at a point where I want to add some beginner corals. My water params have been stable since November last year, no nitrates, nitrites, phosphates or ammonia. I do have a slight deficiency regarding Calcium, but I'm now using Kent liquid reactor (besides Kent essential elements) in the hopes to raise the levels to 450 ppm (now 350 ppm). Previously, I've added a clown and neon goby. I've also added an aquacultered Starburst Polyp and a Yellow Fuji Leather - which subsequently died and wasted away in three days. Not sure why, but the coral looked damaged at the root when it arrived.
I received the new corals yesterday and after acclimation added them to the front of the aquarium. Following ar some pictures and questions I have regarding the changes I am planning.
First you can see a front view of the current state:
Next you have a pic of my "Afro Algae" for lack of any identification. My plan is to leave the smaller afro in the main tank and remove the large afro which I plan to put in the middle chamber in the back of my tank. the chamber is lit from the outside (Steelhaer) and the intend is to keep the algae for nutrient removal. Any ideas why this would not work?
This is the Starburst Polyp that I have had for three months. The second pic is the Starburst I received with the new shipment (couldn't choose what to get in the pack). It's started to grow over other rockwork, but I have read they like a lot of light. My Nano Delux has the standard lighting - 72 watts compacts for 22 gallons. Would it grow much faster higher up in the tank if I place the new coral there?

Next is the Bullseye Mushroom that came (correct me if I misidentified) I read it likes to be low current, medium light - so that would be somewhere at the bottom of the tank. Right?

This I believe is a Button Polyp. Placement on medium hight. I think that should not be a problem.

Finally one that I have not been able to identify yet. It has not opened, but it looks like a Colony Polyp. Is that correct and what would be the best place in the tank for this sample?

Let me know what you think and provide any other suggestions you may have.
