Went into my non-regular LFS today to get some bits and bobs (as I'm mad at my regular LFS - long story :grr: ).

Anyway, I was admiring their african cichlids, wishing away more money when I spotted this little fella in a corner of another tank, looking quite chirpy sucking away at the side of the tank.

Hmm, I wonder....... yup, it's a bristlenose, hmm, I have space since my gold nugget died last month :byebye: ... hmm......

Anyway, cutting a long story short he was £3.50 which I thought was a bargain in anyones books! They had full adults in another tank too for £5!!!

Anyway, my questions is, does this look like an Ancistrus Dolichopterus (Starlight Bristlenose Catfish - L183)? :dunno:

The spots on his head are white but the camera doesn't pick it up that well due to the reflection on the plastic bag. (I say HIS because of the head tenticles).

Thanks

Wow, what a cutie!

I would say yes, looks like a starlight bristlenose. I only deduce this from look at the pics and comparing them though.

He is beautiful!

Hehe, yeah. Man, I'd love to see a pic of that dorsal fin raised... -hint, hint- ;)

looks like an Ancistrus hoplogenys to me - white colourings rather than the blue of the 183's :)

Boxman - where and do they have anymore - at that price - I'll be there tomorrow :) (works - whats that??) :D

[edit] Guernsey, Channel Islands - oh bugger

There are several L-numbers which are the same species of fish so it might be an L-183 and an L-059 or some other numbers. :p

Ok I never asked this before because I thought I was just missing something, but why do people say Pl*co instead of Pleco?

Because they're dumb and think if they write: "pleco", they'll curse their beloved catfish with bad luck and it will die.

Well that's lame, I've always said Pleco and my one pleco is 3 years old. Maybe we should take up saying Clown L*ach
