I have posted up about wanting a small bottom dweller for my tank.....small i mean like...ideally no bigger than 7cm....to live with my 4 danios, 5 neons and 1 male betta.

What sort of temperment do pitbull plecs have? And would they destroy my live plants....people suggest a BN but I've seen they can very much destroy plants....and I don't want anything that will do that, as they keep my current fish very happy :)

It doesn't have to be a plec if anyone has other suggestions of something small that likes a bit of algae!

I've heard reports of Bristlenoses uprooting plants but I have 3 in my heavily planted community tank and have never had a problem.

They are great characters too.

pitbulls are cute and cuddly compared to other plecs - ours hang out in a little social group :)

get 3 or 4 and you'll be away :)
(they might even breed!)

wicked, i'm glad they have good approval.....with the BN's i was more worried about them eating my plants than uprooting them as some people have had planted tanks ruined.
I can't fit more than 2 pitbulls in my tank, does anyone know if they can be kept alone, or is it that they just need company so that they aren't stressed?

i had one on its own, was fine although they are a cory like i gather in that they like their some company

when I moved ours to a different tank - one managed to avoid being caught... and he sulked being on his own.. he was never as active and just sat there.

I suppose I could get one, and if it seems unhappy and not very active, i'll just get him another friend :)

if you can get 2 i would.

i always regretted not getting more, never had them in stock again

just rung the lfs where he was, and they only have one left :| there were loooooads last week, they must sell like hotcakes....he said they're very low on algae eaters.....so i am gonna rescue this lonely little guy providing he looks fit and healthy...so at least he has some fish company, even if its not of his own species....poor bugger!
