Hi, i have 2 6"-7" red bellied piranhas and 4 6" Tiger Oscars. The oscars are in a 60 gallon tank and the piranhas are in a 20gallon tank. Can i put the piranhas with the tiger oscars or will they fight?
sorry, but no, it will not work.
unless youre trying to get rid of the oscars. then the P's will take care of that for you.
not to mention, youre already pushing the stocking limit as is for the 60g tank. that tank is barely big enough for one oscar, let alone 4.
pygocentrus species such as red bellies,Minimum 4, ideally 6 or more. You will find cases where some pygocentrus species such as piraya need to be kept solitary as they have shoal killing mentality but really you shouldnt keep a pair because you usually end up one with dead fish your right
you can do it but you will need more air in the water aka filters. i had a 3in grew to about 8in oscar, a red snook was 6 grew to 8in, pacu 3 grew to 6in and 2 piranhas about 10in for the one and 12in is the other and lived fine but once i took the oscar out to live in peace from the snook while it grew a week later in had grew to about 6in and it messed up the snook and then peace again except a mising chunk of fish once an a while.
No he couldnt. A solitary adult red belly needs a tank of at LEAST 240 litres. a pair (which is far from ideal) to 4 need a tank of 75 us gallons. FACT.
One oscar needs 300 litres MINIMUM. FACT.
Nothing to do with how much filtration you have, that tank is not big enough, never mind that piranhas are species only fish, if you want to keep other fish then get another tank or sell on the piranhas.
