Pirahnah's

My friend owns 4 red bellies, and once over a certian size, the feeders were too small and they wouldnt eat them anymore, he had to get a another tank and to grow up goldfish to feed them, which in the end he started to breed them and saved some money with it. But as stated it is true after a certain size small fish hold no interest to them.

Feeding piranhas goldfish as main diet is a very bad choice!
They have very little nurtrional (i know i cant spell) value and also he runs large risk or spreading diease to the piranhas.
Its also completley un nessacery to feed piranhas live food as they dont "need" to have it.
I would suggest you try to get him to feed some of the following, if he isnt already:
  • Whitefish fillet
  • Whitebait/lance fish
  • Whole mussels (once or twice week)
  • King prawns(good for colour, normally worth cutting heads off)
  • jumbo bloodworm (live if you can find it)
  • earthworms
  • squid
A varied diet makes such a difference to the apperance, behaviour, health and colour of the fish.

Hope thats of some interest.

Danny
