Pirahna

Hi
You all seem to know your stuff about pirahnaa
I'm thinking of a getting a rbp tank and i'm not sure what to go for
i've narrowed it down to two choices: 1 / 40 gal or 4 / 75 gal
IUP, whats the better choice?

p.s. i'd rather spend less money and go for the 40 gal unless there are objections to it

also i have a question about plants; i've learned that pirahanas arent happy when the light is too strong, what are some good low light plants? or should i just stick to plastic/silk?

The trouble with keeping just one is that pirahnas are very nervous even when kept in a group and if kept singularly your pirahna will just hide and panic every time you go near the tank. I would suggest spending the little bit extra and getting the 75g which you could squeeze up to 7 RBPs into providing the filtration was good enough.
Good low light requiring plants are java fern and anubias, i would use a mixture of live and plastic/silk plants with the live plants more to the front so thet they mask the fake feel of the plastic/silk plants.

RBP's dont like the light, but u can make a tank for plants and them. What i suggest is getting some lace rock or petrified wood and some shale. use the rocks and wood to make columns and place shale over it to make a cave system. it works great. leave the lights on. they will come out. it took about a month, but mine decided they did not mind the light. i would find them swimming all around during the day. i also made sure to feed them out in the light. they never bothered my plants. i also was able to keep a pleco in there. he might get his tail nipped from time to time, but it is on accident. they never seem to bother the pleco. he actually pushes them around. RBPs take some work, but are so smart and fun to watch. as they mature they turn a dark green, very pretty really.
