I am thinking of changing my tank set up for my Pirahanas. I would like to add live plants to my tank as all the plants in there is plastic, I am also thinking of removing the imitation rocks and adding bog wood. Please share your thoughts on my idea?

If you want to add live plants to a pirahna set up then you will need to make sure they are ones with low lighting requirements as pirahnas do not tolerate bright lighting well, java fern and anubias are ones commonly found in shops. The bogwood will be great with them and if you dont soak it first it will add a nice natural yellow tinge to the water which will help keep the pirahna calm.

the only live plants i used with my piranha were amazon swords and my p's always nipped them and trimmed them down but that may have been due to breeding so you could try those.
bogwood is also good i always used it.

what size tank would u need for a pirahana set up?
it depends on what type of piranha and how many you want.
some have to be kept alone and some do best in shoals.

is there any type that could be kept in a 37gallon?
for a 37 gal i would go with a serrasalmus piranha which is a solitary type.
i would recommend a spilo, brandti, small rhom, geryi, irritans there is more.
are you in the UK as i know where there is a few of these for sale and they are quite rare in the UK.

if your in the US then one still applies but you can get lots of different piranha.
you can look and get more info here it is more specialised if CFC does not mind plus they have specialist suppliers in the US.

It is against the rules to link to other forums but just this once i'll let it slide since pirahnas are more of a specialist subject.
