are pike cichlids a cross between a cichlid and a pike?
i say no but my friend says yes

forgot to add this

i got some feeders yesterday and i noticed a VERY big male he was like 1 and a half inches!
he looks like a thin swordtail(molly or platy) without the sword but was in with guppies
he has a greenish dot at the base of his tail but he also is like a colorless female guppybut you cant see the stomach
what is he

pike cichlids are a type of cichlid which look like pikes, so are therefore called pike cichlids.

your feeder fish will be some kind of live bearer, without a picture I wouldn't be able to ID.

So to answer your first question, no, 'pike cichlids' are not hybrids - they are a kind of cichlid species. Just like you might say 'convict cichlid' - that's not a cross between a convict and a cichlid (I hope ;)).

As for your 'unknown' fish. I'd have guessed endler (a close relative of the guppy) if it were not for the size you quoted. Otherwise, perhaps it's a variatus platy. Or maybe a heterandria bimaculata, if I go on the pattern alone. (shame on them for selling it as a feeder!)

Now that I think about it - are you sure it's not just a female guppy?
