inflict a painful stab wound the spine or sting is on there dorsal and pectoral fins

please help me asap

Are you sure you mean the Pimelodus pictus
To be honest, I've never heard of a sparp spine that stings venom (in a pictus) :/

Like a number of catfish they do have spines that can stab and can be quite nasty, but I have never heard of them stinging and would be fairly sure they don't.

All members of the Pimelodidae family have sharp pointed first rays of their pectoral fins which are coated in a poisonous bacterial slime, if handled these spines can cause painful wounds which unless cleaned immiedietly quickly become infected and need prefessional medical attention.

I wouldn't worry about being "stung" unless you happened to be petting your pictus backwards :p Pim. pictus will flee from your hand if you have it in the aquarium, so I wouldn't worry about their spines too much ;)

Can i ask who did it or why my post was deleted from this thread..???? This isnt the first time its happened to me and its really turning me off this forum...I'm not the type to complain but if your going to edit/delete something why not state why. I didnt say anything wrong due to the subject. I dont expect an answer because frankly this forum seems to have its own agenda. Maybe i pissed someone off and now im feelig the after effects.

After some investigation we can honestly not find out why your post disapeered, none of the mods deleted it or even recall reading it for that matter. It must be down to some kind of board error in posting, let us know if it happens any more so we can put a stop to it before it becomes a larger problem.
