does anyone have a picture of a pregnant swordtails????? coz i have no idea whether my swordtail is pregnant...thanks

Well i can explain to you what they are like

You will notice a change in the size of their bellies, but the most noticable part you will see is a black spot just by their anal fins, this black gavid spot as it is known, it fry in development, sometimes if you look close, some people can actually see the eye's of the fry that are being developed...

You will also notice strange behavior when they are close to birthing, however there is no certain way of telling this because swordtails act in different ways, i know when my swordies are close to birthing, because they swim against the glass, making rapid head movements, and just swimming up and down...

There should be a picture floating around somewhere though

;)

Both pictures are the same fish (Lucy) but different pregnancies. The first picture was taken Feb 20th about 4 days before she had her babies. The second picture was taken in December right before her first batch of babies. She's the only swordie I have that will allow herself to be photographed when pregnant. I've been trying all day to get a picture of my pregnant red neon lyretail since she has a visible gravid spot but she won't have anything to do with it! Lucy by the way doesn't have a real visible gravid spot, it's kind of just looks like a very faint shadow and unless you know her as well as I do it's very hard to see.

Stubborn little devils  when it comes to getting their picture taken, huh? Well Lucy looks really well. The Marigolds that I have you can't really see their gravid spot either. Thanks for the pics they are great :kewlpics:
