My Guianacara geayi have apparently been busy.

I came in after getting home from work and saw this:

Sorry about the picture quality. I was rather excited at the time.

I have several more pictures here: http://www.aquariu.ms/images/main.php?g2_itemId=865

Interestingly, I have a pair of adult angels in the tank, and they are pretty much plastered to the opposite side of the tank, though I see no real signs of agression by the gaeyi. What I am really fascinated by is the behavior of the fry. They seem to intuitively obey the mother. It's night time, and they are packed into a tight cluster under the pot you see in the picture. Cool stuff. I do not know if I should take them out or leave them with the parents. I can find NO information on breeding Guianacara geayi. Anyone familiar with them? Anyone interested in some Guianacara geayi? I DO NOT recommend them for planted tanks. They are home wreckers.

Do you have some newly hatched brine shrimp to feed them? Or what do these guys eat? I raised krib fry on Brine shrimp hatchlings. it was cute watching them eat! Good luck with the cute little guys!

I am feeding them Hikari First Bites. They are loving it. I will hatch some BBS in a few days when they are a bit bigger.

That is pretty much what I am observing. They will both "leave the nest" for short periods - the male longer than the female. The female seems to be going out on a scouting trip, either looking for errant fry or invaders - not certain. The tank is super heavily planted with lots of hiding places and no line of sight more than a few inches. So, not surprising.

Most Cichlids are fantastic parents so it sounds as though you have nothing to worry about.
Keep us posted on their progress! ;)
