Have been busy recently and not had a lot of time to update pictures, so thought I would pop a few on today.

Firstly my Severums, they are growing nicely now although one is much much larger than the other I think they are male and female but not 100% certain.

First smaller severum, female I think

With male Ellioti who has had his stress line since he killed the female Ellioti

Larger Severum, male??

and some new additions I picked up yesterday labeled as geophagus jurupari, but they are so tiny I have put them in the fry tank with some baby ellioti for now

Speaking of the baby Ellioti they are taking soooooo long to grow, is this normal?

Thanks for looking

Jurupari are Satanoperca Leucosticta I think.

Nice Rotkeil Severums there, the 1st pic does look female to me, but at that size its hard to tell, the male generally has more facial markings and more full, pointer anal fins.

So the Geos are not geos? lol sorry just to confirm.

Thanks I love the sevs, they are my absolute favorite, the larger one has red facial markings whereas the smaller dosn't. The anal fin is also just starting to point. But as you say they are still young and small time will tell I suppose.

They are a geophagus species, in that they are earth eaters, but their species id is Satanoperca, of which there are several types, Leucosticta being one of them. They are commmonly sold under the Jurupari name, however, true Jurupari are very rare.

Nice pics, my Ellioti babies are about 6 months old now and just about 2", got them split into 2 180l tanks

Thanks for clearing that up for me Minxfishy I get confused with all these fancy names!!

Thanks Star, these are about 6 months old also and I would say there are only about 1" and there is only about 30 of them.

ZOMG!!! no you didnt! I wanted those Satanoperca they are from MA at Beverley arnt they :haha: had my eye on them for weeks just wanted a bit more size on them. Lol be interesting to see how they grow up :)

Have to say they are some of the nicest fish MA at Beverley have had for quite some time, I quite want that Damba they have left but not sure how it would mix with my lot.

Are those Rotties from MA? They looked just like normal greens when you first got them and I think thats what they are selling the new ones they just go in as well.....interesting shall have to have a closer look next time Im in...

Hi Wills, yeah I did - maybe shouldn't of though lol. They are soooo small I dare not put them in the large tank at the moment. I agree MA Beverley don't have a lot in that catches my eye a lately but these did!!

The rotties are indeed from MA Beverley also, they have greens in at the minute which I had a good look at also and I am pretty sure they are greens and not rotties.

Haha well if you change your mind :p They should get to about 2 inches quite quick but slow grow upto adult size but should get to a good size in the year or so.

Wills

Cheers Wills, at 2" they will be fine in the large tank. I will be needing to rehome some fish soon hoping MA will take them.

.... what you re-homing

I will need to find homes for most of the Ellioti when they are a little larger - I may keep 3 or 4, and I want to rehome some of the rainbows as I need the space for the ever growing cichlids I keep getting caught up by

mmmm if you have any lake kubuti aka turquoise rainbows for sale let me know haha :)

Sorry Wills I will be keeping my blues they are my favourites along with the bosemanis lol
