Hi everyone so Sŭay is finally all settled into his new home (20L tank) he is very happy .... he is quite the fussy little boy I tried feeding him his Betta pellets which he spits back out and he is not to impressed by getting fed flake either so I went and got him some Brine Shrimp and now he is a happy little boy at dinner time :)

So this is his little home:

Questions:

*So let me know what you think of my boy :)

*please note tank is not dirty my walls are yellow so thats why that colour comes through the tank ..... do you guys think I should put a little background at the back of the tank and if so what colour?

Sŭay is such a darling just like his owner :good:

He soooooo fancies you :p [not your fooshie obviously]

He's a stunning boy! Adorable. Looks happy and healthy, what more could you ask?xx

Hi

I always use backgrounds that are green vegetation with some rocks, that look like a planted tank, probably 80% green colour-wise. Your tank looks good already so it may not improve yours much. One issue I have noted with backgrounds is that they may reflect light from the camera flash. My white opaque fantail male looked an irridescent green/pearl colour whenever I used the flash. Plus you have a beautiful fish, it may take away from his colours and make him less noticable. Dont mean to sound like im trying to talk you out of it, but maybe take his colours into account when picking one - I tend to avoid fake plants the same colour of my Bettas as it takes away from their colour

gorgeous little boy you have there

we have a paper 3d (but its flat) rock background some of the fish blend in i.e. the dark coloured fish like my plec so i dont think something like that would work for your boy :)

i think yours would look nice the way it is with the wall background looks like sand hehe :D

He is a stunning lil guy and what a show off he is too. I just have to ask are you feeding him Brine Shrimp every night as his main diet?

Hi Lee great a :good: dvice I totally agree with not using same coloured plants or gravel as the fish as they blend in rather than stand out .... taking his colours in while picking background is a great idea.
Totally beautiful, really nice set out tank and beautiful boy.
Thanx Samphire :)

Thanks Devon Charm :)

so far I have feed him Brine shrimp 3 days in a row he has also been fed pellets but he spits them out and I also tried him on flake and he does the funiest thing he only eats the green coloured flake and wont touch the red yellow or orange flake pieces talk about fussy

Do you think I should feed him something else? since he has been fed Brine Shrimp he has started making a lovely bubble nest.

SO pretty! you lucky girl! I also like your home for him, it looks like it has a lady's touch (where as mine dont =( lol
keep him happy!

It is good to feed them the live foods but not every day as a main diet as they will be missing out on other nutrients that they need. You could try fasting him for a day then try the flake again, as this does have every thing he needs.

Your so lucky, he is such a nice betta

He's georgeous. You going to breed from him?
Yes, feed him other things. I've found Atisons Betta Pro really excellent and find I don't feed so much live food anymore. When I fed loads of live I found that as my bettas got older it had an ill effect on them, shortening their lives (we all know what happens if we eat too much rich food!). So, no matter how much they like it it's best to only feed it a few times a week.
Also the odd shelled pea is good for the digestion. I occassionally give my boys n girls shelled sweetcorn too! They love it.
And all my betta tanks are yellow. It's the betta spa in the water.
