Beautiful pictures. I really enjoyed looking at them.

I was wondering, what type of catfish is the pink and brown one?
I had one once, but it grew so big and ate nearly everything else in the tank, I had to give it to a friend with a bigger tank/fish.

South African fiends of mine say they used to catch them for food, and hang them in a bag in a tree.
Often the fish would slither out of the bag and find their way back to the lake.

Sorry for going off the thread, but it's a while since I saw one.

Once again, beautiful pictures.

The fish in that picture is a Clarius Walking Catfish. They reach two feet in lenght and can be pretty aggressive. They can also servive out of water for up to two hours. They're known as pests in most places since they will wipe out the fish population in one pond, and then just 'walk' to another one and do the same thing. They can also survive in very polluted water and can go long periods without eating.
I had to get rid of mine since it started attacking my OScar and almost killed it.

when i first saw the first pic, i thought it was a head of a moray coming out from the plants. :shout:

Very nice setups! I really like the amazon set up. Beautiful Oscar!

where did you get the newt? what are these like to look after! what set up you got for them and the minnows? is the betta in with them also?? any pics of the tank zoomed out abit?

cheers!! :good:

Nice photos.
But do you know that most of the fish in your "amazon" set up are not from the Amazon?
The Chinese algae eater is from centeral Thailand and India, and Kribs from western Africa and the Ctenopoma is from the Zaire river in Africa (it also has no need at all for feeder fish).

Also just watch out for the Oscar and the Angelfish, it may well kill them. They will also need a larger tank along with the plecs.

Having said that, the Oscar and Ctenopoma look great!

I agree with severum boy.
Aswell as killing the Angelfish, the Oscar will be producing large amounts of waste which may be too much for a 55g tank.
Alll the fish do look very nice though :)
