I don't think bunjiweb was trying to pick a fight either. It was a valid suggestion and very helpful advice just in case you didn't know. You didn't state anywhere that you knew. It's a nice tank btw.

Oh, IMO, the funds of a high school student should be the highest of everybody, you have no bills, no tuition, no children or food to pay for :/

And no imcome.

Yeah, I could get a job, but I'm pretty busy studying most of the time; well, I'm not going to explain the details, no one wants to hear my life story.

If we all had to type everything we knew before posting, none of us would ever get around to posting anything. I have R. Wallichi in my tank, but I don't see anyone jumping on me because it's a demanding plant with both red color and feather leaves.

I don't want to start a fight, bunjiweb has every right to state his opinion and with so many people picking up clown loaches and yo-yos without knowing how big they grow, it's sufficient reason for experienced members to get jumpy on fish stocking when it comes to botias. I just get annoyed when it happens to me.

Edit--> Thanks for everyones compliments. Sorrel, pick up this book: "The Encyclopedia of Aquarium Plants" by Peter Hiscock; taught me a lot about plant care. Really great book.

Nice tank Tear-scar. I'm surprised you have such a contrasting rock bang in the centre though, have you not heard of the golden ratio!! Only kidding, just getting some constructive critisism in :p

What's your water parameters, lighting co2 etc? I'm impressed with your Rotala wallichi, has it been established long? Is that another Rotala sp. in front too, the green stem plant?

I would comment the Botia striata however, my two have grown between 4 and 5 inches so you may have to remove them after a while (you already knew that though eh?)

Good to see some of your handy work, on a budget too, nice one.

BTW Peter Hiscock is a good author, he work's at my LFS (Maidenhead Aquatics, Peterborough) too!! Other books which have provided me with knowledge and inspriration include The Big Dennerle Guide and all of Takeshi Amano's work.

I appreciate the artistic criticism. :D

There's actually another rock on the far right side of the tank, it's just that the moss crawled all over it . . . I'll try and get the moss under control so that it's more prominant. I wanted another white rock on the far left to set off the one in the middle too, but I can't see any room. Maybe just move a lot of smaller white ones to that side?

--Really? 5 inches? There's a lot of conflicting material on this fish, as I've read lots of books say anything from 2.5 to 4 inches, but most say about 3.5. Well, if he grows that big I'll just move him. I think it's good to have him during the planting section though . . . nab any snails I might have missed. If you check the journal on this tank, it'll give a thorough explaination of why I only have 1 fish, and it was out of my hands.

--Amano is a genius.

One thing-- is Cielo super tiny? Because in that third pic the tank looks huge for him, and if it's only a 10 gallon....

Cielo IS super tiny. He's only 1 inch in length without his fins. The LFs got him from a local breeder; they said he's still a juevenile, but his line is supposed to be a little smaller even when fully grown. I think the breeder sold the fish to them because he has some red specks in his fins; maybe he was trying for an all blue line?

Params are normal for the most part, I've tried to keep levels of Iron a little high, and PH a little low. I have 2 15 watt bulbs (18"). Right now, one of the bulbs I'm running is what the fixture came with, so I'm not sure of the k. I want to replace it with a 10000k bulb soon. The R. Wallichi was planted on friday, so don't be impressed so easily.

As for the plant in front, it's Micranthemum micranthemoids, also classified as Hemianthemus micranthemoides. :dunno:

common names are baby tears and pearl grass.

Edit> DIY CO2

Tank's been up about 2 months, I finished planting and arranging last friday.
