was just wondering how long people have there light on for?

i have mine on for 4 on, 2 off, 4 on.

does anybody bother with a siesta? any reason?

thanks
chris

Siesta's probably do more harm to plants than they do algae as algae adapt quicker to changing conditions. If your CO2 is poor then siesta's can help as the CO2 levels will rise again during it. Better to fix the CO2 though.

8 to 10 hours straight should be fine.

If you have multiple tubes then a midday burst works well.

Let's say you have 4 tubes.

2 tubes for 3 hours,
4 tubes for 5 hours,
2 tubes for 2 hours. 10 hours total.

This is what I do and I have no algae. I don't have any algae-eaters either. Good CO2, EI, tank maintenance and plenty of plants is a great defence against algae.

Siestas are best for poor CO2, but as mentioned, good CO2 is much better.

thanks everyone
i have pressurized co2, dose EI, have around 3wpg (i have 3 30w tubes (2 come on together/same unit)

so if i was to

2 tubes (60w) for 3 hours
3 tubes (90w) for 5 hours
3 tubes (60w) for 2 hours

would it be ok?

plants have been growing really well in the past week (when i planted it) but ive started to get a little thread

thanks again
