Hi,

I use the API Master test kit to measure PH. The problem I have is being able to accurately read what the level is.

I am looking for something more precise for a consistent electronic read.

I did buy a electronic device (£12.95) that required self calibration. To be brutally honest it was a comedy show completely not fit for purpose.

So I am looking for a pre-calibrated device or a device that is reliable.

Any suggestions or someone with personal experience would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have used digitalmonitoring for a number of years. pH always needs to be recalibrated regularly. Moreover, you must not allow the pH pprobe to dry out. I have a unit I got to manage a tank of altum angels. It gives continuous monitoring of Conductivity or 2 differenr TDS reading, te,perature in F or C and pH. This is done by two probes in the water. One is dedicated to pH and the other one reads the Conductivity/TDS and temperature. I have to recalibrate the pH probe about every 6 to 8 weeks. I also have to clean the one as well.

When I was getting wild altums barely 2 weeks removed from the wild, I had the pH in the tank at 4.2 in order to keep them alive. There is no way I know of with a hobby test kit to measure pH at that level.

My unit cost me about $250 years ago, Today they come with WiFi making them even more expensive. Mine has no WiFi and I don't use a smart phone anyway, so I would have to pay a lot more today to replace my unit because it has a feature that would be in the way for me rather than being an asset.

I did use pH pens before I got the continuoyus monitor. However, I found the pens to be a PITA and unreliable. I also have a couple of TDS pens which are way more reliable than those for pH. Of course you can always pay up for a lab greade pen. If you think you need something that will be accurate and reliable, try this one: Hach pH Pen It is only $123. Do not get a cheap one as you will likely regret it.

I have the Blue Lab Guardian monitor: (Non-WiFi pictured below)
