hi

how can i reduce my ph level from 7.5 to 6.5 ?

i have a sinsitive fish in my tank (discus)..

many thanx

If you want to reduce the pH of the water, obtain some ph reducer. You should dilute the reducer by premixing it with aquarium water before adding to the aquarium. Test the carbonate hardness of the aquarium. If the test shows high carbonate hardness, adding acid will only lower the ph temporarily and it will rise again. This is hard on the discus.

you can also buy crushed coral from your local FS.
This can be added to you tank, and will maintain a PH of 6.5 ;)

The best, and safest way to lower your ph is to start with ro water. This gives you a blank slate to start with, you can reconstitute to any ph or hardness you want.

No. You shouldnt have got the cushed coral!

Crushed coral buffers the tank water to a pH level of 8!

DO NOT USE CRUSHED CORAL IN A DISCUS TANK!

The best way to lower the pH is with the use of Rerverse Osmosis (RO) water. RO water has a very low kH value and therefore it would be safer for you to add a bit of tapwater to the RO water, thus increasing the kH.

A very low kH (hardness) value means that the pH of the water is very easily changed and this may not be safe for discuses. by adding some tap water, the kH value will be Increased, thus decreasing the chances of pH fluctuations.

You need to lower the kH value of your tank water before you can change the pH. Commercially available products that lower the pH usually decrease the pH only temporarily. If you want to decrease the pH of the water Permanently, you need to decrease the kH value. (approx 5 i think is safe)

I hope i made sense

thanx man too much...

but my dealler say the creushed corals reduce the PH,,

and some user's agree too..

but if u have a trusted source get me a link...

and many thanx to the good people to concern with other's, coz thatt our target in our life....

Don't use the crushed coral. It raises the pH, believe me. I have a marine tank, and before I even put the salt in, the pH was about 8.3 or so. That will kill your discus, just like that.

thanx Sean..

but i can't believe anyone anymore??!!!

somebody say : the crushed coral's reduce the PH to 6.5

and somebody say : the crushed coral's will raise the PH to 8.2

what can i do??!

i was bought the crushed corals yesterday, i wash it very good..

and i add it to my filter..

am not test the PH yet!

tell you what,

why dont you get a bucket of water, leave it for a few hours, then test its pH. After testing the pH, add some crushed coral. Leave it overnight and test the pH the next day.

That shud allow you to test whether ur crushed coral raises pH or not

thanx man....

i will test the PH on the next day...

i was test it before it's 7.5

anyway how did you know the carushed coral's raise the PH...

maybe on the ssalt water coz the salt is basic salt...]

and that what should be in marine tank...
