We've been looking for a mate for my parrotlet, Petri, for quite some time, as my mother and I both hate having social birds alone. We got Petri for $100 and were hoping to find a female for the same price, but we've only been able to find any colour but yellow (I hate the yellows) at one place nearby, and for almost twice the price of Petri! Well, after months of searching, we finally caved in anyway

Petri is a territorial little demon who loves giving kisses on your cheek but bites fingers, and the new lady is a biter too, so it ought to be a match made in Heaven!
The new lady is unnamed as of yet... I'd like to give her a science related name to match Petri (as in petri dish,) any ideas? All I could come up with are Zeta and Curie...

Just got here and is already settling in eating millet

Here's where they have been for the past 30 minutes or so, just chatting away

i'd go with either agar gel or Erlenmeyer flask. (or Florence flask, if you really wanted a "girl" name, but Erlenmeyer is so much prettier to say :p )

Haha, I thought of Erlenmeyer. Good name for a boy :p
The best name so far was suggested by my BF -- Joule, as in "Jewel". I'm probably going to stick with that

Joule got taken out of her cage for her first playtime today. She's a real sweetie  Still a little nippy, but she stops immediately if you lightly tap her beak, so I don't think it'll be a problem. She hasn't been trained to step up on your finger on command yet though, which I am disgusted with since she was in the shop for over 4 months before I got her... what, do they not handle their birds at all?? :X She was so confused, like "why is this crazy lady pushing up on my chest and repeating 'step up'??", but she successfully did it a few times after I raised my finger so high on her chest she didn't have a choice

I took Petri out of his cage at the same time, and he was a little demon as usual. At first he was nicer than ever, no nips or anything (for once!), but then I think he got jealous of Joule and started biting my neck, which he has never done before... you can't just tap his beak, he'll try to bite your finger while you do, so he gets the squirt bottle treatment. He also flew over to my mother and bit her, and she reinforced him with a nice loud shriek... great, now he'll probably bite more in hopes he'll get a similar reaction

Some pics I snapped of Petri while he was out of his cage today... Note the gloves. All birds go through a nippy phase, but Petri is not nippy, he is a BITER. He doesn't respond well to scolding or a tap on the beak, so he gets the squirt bottle treatment. He loves to cuddle on your shoulder and give kisses though, it's just hands he hates. He was being nice today though, he only got squirted once.

First two pics make him look bluer than he is

The chatting away picture is adorable. You can tell they're entertained with each other. I'm sure Petri is happier with his new companion.
I love that pic too, and nominate it for the pet of the month competition.

 OMG this is hilarious, because my g/f and I had a Parrotfish named Petri :D

I'll second the nomination! They are very colorful and you can tell have such attitude. Very colorful, or did you adjust the pictures in a graphics program and up the color saturation, Synirr?

Only edits these pics got was "auto levels" and "auto colour" to make them look more like his normal colouration, lol. They are indeed very colourful birds
